About Fighting Blindness in Angola
Fighting Blindness in Angola (FiBiA) is a charitable organisation committed to improving eye health and preventing avoidable blindness throughout Angola.
Our mission is to support the development and operation of sustainable eye care services by strengthening local treatment centres, supporting healthcare professionals, and ensuring that treatment is accessible to people who need it most.
We work closely with local partner organisation SOLE Angola (Solidariedade Evangelica) and their eye hospital, Casa de Saúde Boa Vista, in Benguela.
Our Mission
Our mission is to reduce preventable blindness in Angola by:
- Supporting the development of ophthalmology services
- Providing specialist training for healthcare professionals
- Supplying medical equipment and consumables
- Funding treatment for patients who cannot afford it
- Promoting high standards of clinical practice

Our Partner: SOLE Angola
SOLE Angola is a non-profit social and religious organisation based in Benguela. Since 1994, it has operated the Boa Vista Eye Clinic, one of the most important ophthalmology centres in Angola.
The clinic has become a centre of excellence for eye care, delivering:
- Cataract surgery
- Vision consultations
- Glasses for refractive errors
- Training for nurses and eye health professionals
The Boa Vista network currently provides services across 10 provinces, with plans to expand further.
Our Approach
We believe lasting change happens when local healthcare systems are strengthened. Rather than replacing local services, we support them through:
- Training and knowledge sharing
- Equipment and medical supplies
- Volunteer medical expertise
- Financial assistance for treatment and training
By working alongside Angolan healthcare professionals, we help ensure that eye care services remain sustainable and accessible.
